LaNeisha Hodo

Founder

My name is LaNeisha Hodo, and I am the founder of Associated Mothers in Action.

My name is LaNeisha Hodo, and I am the founder of Associated Mothers in Action. I founded AMiA to serve my community of Compton. As a Compton Native and member of the community, I am a witness to the need for food justice and food sovereignty. My aim is to use my skills and background in food recovery, sustainable gardening, and nutrition to serve this need.

I am a recent graduate from Pasadena City College, receiving an Associates of Science in Agricultural Plant Science. I currently attend California State University, Dominguez Hills majoring in Earth Science.

I graduated from the University of California Cooperative Extension becoming a Master Gardener in 2022. I have been fortunate enough to participate in the Los Angeles Food Policy Council’s Food Leaders Lab in 2020 and the USC Resilient Leaders and Capacity Building Program in Summer 2024.

For the past eight years, I have worked for Food Forward supporting over 350 Southern California hunger relief agencies with fruits and vegetables, helping them to execute their mission of supplying nutritious produce to food-insecure communities. I was the Farmers Market Manager for the Watts Willowbrook for SEE-LA focused on providing greater access to healthy foods by bringing Farmers Markets to different Communities in Los Angeles.  Ultimately, founding Associated Mothers in Action in 2021 in an effort to support the South Los Angeles Area.
